Thanks Jason - this actually is a perfect fit for Missing Lynx' kitten network protocol and technology - a mix of business and engineering.

I've recommended Missing Lynx submit for this, so they could use some advice. I believe you were involved in this last year - do you have any observations or suggestions?

EagleCheck (www.EagleCheck.com) won an honorable mention last year, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, we did NOT walk away with $50,000. :-(

So you have advice for how a company should prepare for the competition - Phase 1, for developing an effective 2-page Executive Summary - Phase 2, to get to the run offs - Phase 3, to have the best possible chances to win the prize.

Any sense what the judges are looking for - type of presentation material that has best impact - things to avoid anywhere along the way... I'm going to help Missing Lynx compete for this, and I think they could win, so I want to help them be as well presented as possible.

Well, I don't run the contest, so I am very hesitant to speak for the wishes of another group.

However, I do note that the contest is sponsored by TIIME. As an organization, TIIME seeks to effectively integrate management with engineering. See: www.tiime.case.edu. So I believe that any concept that simultaneously draws on the engineering and management disciplines will be more appealing to the TIIME judges.

I also note that most business plans are generally woefully inadequate in a) Describing the actual Product/Service (what); b) how that Product/Service meets a market need; c) what it will take to be successful; and d) why the current members of the team are the right people to make it happen.

As a recent generalization, many business plans spend pages and pages of "market need" and opportunity.

I hope this helps. Don't forget, Rob Harris and Prof Flowers are the directors. Rob Harris is very approachable. His email address is: Robert.Harris@case.edu.

This is exactly the type of insight I'm looking for - I already have a group here working on a proposal, and did reach out to Robert Harris... I'll keep this tribe posted on the process and outcomes!

Any other related thoughts come to mind... anyone else have related experience... do post!
